A choir is a place of meeting and sharing.
As Choeur philharmonique du Nouveau Monde- Basses-Laurentides we are proud to join the other SPNM members, including professional musicians and soloists, for the presentation of major choral works for choir and orchestra.
For more than 60 years, first under the name “Les Chanteurs de Sainte-Thérèse” and then under our current name, we have performed in several cities of the Lower Laurentians, Montreal and Ottawa. To do this, our choristers meet every Monday in Sainte-Thérèse under the inspiring direction of maestro Michel Brousseau, admirably assisted by Danielle Maisonneuve.
Although we are a choir composed largely of non-professional choristers, the level reached concert after concert is truly remarkable. The exceptional commitment and constant efforts of our choristers make singing a contagious pleasure.
This year, in the month of May, we will present in the magnificent historic church of St-Eustache recognized for its exceptional acoustics, the Requiem by John Rutter and the Misatango by Martin Palmeri, two works that correspond well to the theme of the concert: Light and Passion. You will also discover the winner of the 2025 Young Concertist competition, pianist Takashi New, who will perform the first movement of the 5th piano concerto for choir and orchestra from Beethoven. You will be charmed!
